How would I know if my chihuahua is protected from worms?

I just found a chihuahua dog on the side of the road. He weights about 5 pounds.Yesterday I took him for his shots but today he got bitten a swamp of mosquitoes. Since he just got his shots does that means he will be protected against worms or would I have to take him to a vet? And how would I know if he does have worms. Also what can I do to make him stop itching he is going crazy scratching.

    You need to take a stool sample to the vet to check for worms.

    It ISN’T!!!!=there’s no such thing!
    It needs at least *2* wormings=strongid & then panacur,a week later.
    & YES,buy the right wormer ,in right dosage, from the vet.

    Now,tell me why you imagine you can just choose to keep somebody else’s PROPERTY???????

    Shots don’t protect dogs from worms.

    Get heartworm preventative- that’s the one they can get from mosquitoes. A stool sample won’t show up heartworms as far as I know. Some heartworm preventatives will also protect against worms that live in the digestive system. If your heartworm preventative doesn’t you’ll have to give the dog a separate de-wormer every so often for the other types of worms.

    You need to get the dog checked out for a microchip, with a universal scanner- if the previous owner registered him, you might be able to find them. Did he have a collar on? It might be a excellent thought to check the papers and see if anyone has an ad up saying they lost their dog, also check signs in your area (or the area the dog was found). He might be someone’s pet that got lost.

    HE NEEDS TO BE ON HEARTGARD PREVENTITIVE absolutely tip tio the most vital! trust me the outcome is horrible. they’re just small tabs, the dogs like them because they taste like soft treats even picky chihuahuas.

    for other worms you must take in a stool sample so the vet can see.
