    Maybe just a sewing needle will do the trick (I’m not positive because i’ve never tried this before).

    The statement about what setting to use for your flash is completely incorrect. In order to clearly stop the motion of water you need to use the shortest flash duration as possible. That would mean that with a a camera flash you would need to use the lowest setting possible in order to really speed up or shorten the amount of time that the flash is really illuminated. The shutter speed is irrelevant.
