Hair products leave buildup on your hair. Afterwhile, those products break the ends of your hair. Make sure you condition every time and do a deep condition every week or so.

2 to 3 times a week. Plus, your hair is more fragile when it's relaxed, so you want to limit the amount of stress you put on the hair (i.e. don't mess with it unless you have to). For me, I'm an athlete so I cannot go more than a week without washing (which my hairdresser thinks is too often), but my general rule of thumb is to pay attention to what your hair is telling you, your hair will let you know when it's time to wash (dirty or odor) and regardless of when you wash, make sure to keep it conditioned!! This has worked well for me and my hair has been as healthy as ever....Also, when I first started learning about proper care for relaxed hair, I found this site very informative:http://www.treasuredlocks.com/blhacafa.html

My hairdresser says relaxed black hair should only be washed every 1 1/2 to two weeks because if you wash it too often, you’ll be washing out essential oils that keep the hair moisturized and protected from hurt caused by relaxing. The first wash I will wash my hair only with conditioner. Second wash I will use shampoo and conditioner. I wash my hair at least once a week though. For the second time I was my hair I do a protein treatment (Aphogee 2 minute reconstructor) followed by a deep conditioning treatment (silk elements megasilk conditioner).I would go to this web forum and read the posts. I recommend reading under the hair breakage, hair growth and relaxed sections. http://forum.blackhairmedia.com/

I was my hair twice a week (at least I try). The first wash I will wash my hair only with conditioner.
