How do I get the ps3 to read my external hard drive?

Your Question
How can I connect my usb hard drive to the ps3?
I know where to plug it in, I have done this before, but I reckon the software update place windows media manager as the management system for the media server and I keep getting an error message. What do I need to do to be able to view all the files on the hard drive just by plugging it in?

  1. BIll S says:

You need the HDD in Fat32 and for some reason PS3 dislikes 1TB External HDD’s.. I’ve had a few and they never worked on mine. (not completely sure if thats the case with the new slims or yours)
Try Ps3 Media Server. it’s simple, find the folder click ok and the ps3 sees it. I can use this to access my C: D: F: drives etc and it’s quick too
